Weird, my mom is saying the 82 Ford (it's a Ranger, supposedly 6-cyl) has good gas mileage according to the current owner.
Now I'm really confused, should I get a job and work for a barely 90's model Ford SUV, or do a summer yard work job for an 80's model Ford truck.

"gas breaking $1.50/gallon was something, now gas breaking $5.--/gallon is considered shocking." now for the comment from the bitter Scot, £1.15 per fuckin litre!!! and thats living 3 miles from BPs Grangemouth refinery, the biggest refinery in Britain, so forgive me if i seem kinda pissed but $1.50 a gallon, roughly 75pence i think, for approx 4 times what we pay over a £ for, you wanna trade places??? fuckin politicians and there taxes, fuckin oil companies and their over inflated prices, mind you scotland always was a third world country with assets to be exploited by its empirical massas

Damn, now that sucks. But hey, what can you do when the dollar is in such a bad shape? I think the Canadian Dollar and our dollar are still kinda neck-and-neck.
But I have a feeling that I am going to be working my ass off this summer for a pick-up truck. The place that had the 90 Bronco out front, doesn't have it any more. So unless I can find a better deal, I'll be doing a shitload of yard work for a truck. Well, doesn't seem bad now that I think about it. I won't have to get a regular job until like August maybe, and I'll be getting paid with something I could really use. I don't have anything in terms of transportation except a bike, and I don't ride.

And another thing Daclarob, I meant that gas had gone from ~$1/$1.50 to ~$4/$5 in my life, so let me see if my math is right...
We pay around $4 a gallon (roughly four liters/litres), divided by 4 = $1/liter. It's still probably a little better than how y'all have it, but the US economy is in is some type of turmoil if gas reaches $4/$5 a gallon.

Gas is $3.95. Just went up today...waiting for the "4" to come out for the sign...
I could be mistaken about the gas mileage, Ford made more than one truck in the 80s. His is a V8, so it's probably a different engine. I think it's an F250 Lariat Ranger. If its one of the smaller Rangers, it'll probably get pretty good gas mileage.
Regardless, looks like we're gonna wait til next year to go to California. I would like to get an older Jeep Wrangler from the 90s...five speed. It'd be a kick ass car just to have something like a Jeep... AH MAN!!! Something you can put through hell and come out alive.

One of my teachers has a Jeep.
I've seen the inside, it's good. I've seen the outside, it's good. Overall, it's good.
But yeah, I think waiting is a good idea. Gas prices might actually come down in the future.
Just one question, don't we have oil fields that we could use here in America? Then why the fuck do we continue to use oil from places like Iraq? Also, why must we continue to buy stuff from China? That's many of the reasons the economy is in bad shape. I for one think Bush, while is partly at fault, is not the main reason.
According to one site, I think the average here in Georgia is $3.781. Last year it was $3.097. Let me run a value comparison of the USD to Canada's dollar. Now, 1 USD = ~1 CAD, 1 year ago: 1 USD = ~1.09 CAD, 5 years ago: 1 USD = ~1.36 CAD, 10 years ago (pre-Bush): 1 USD = ~1.45 CAD. Now that's a shocking trend. If a country that doesn't do ANYTHING to ANYONE has such a strong currency now, yet a country that does A LOT has a steadily weakening currency, something's wrong with their economy. I ain't blaming Bush, because of a lot of what's happened Congress has allowed, but he did take office, and the country's economy has been suffering.

We get as much oil as possible from our homeland, but it's not enough to supply the demand.
The US's top 2 oil importers are Mexico and Canada, not Iraq or Saudi Arabia. Although, we do get a substantial amount from them.

Yeah, what countries are in OPEC by the way?
But if we could only move away from dependancies on oil, primarily foreign oil...

Damn, sucks for you.
But hey, how old are you? Cause if you're under 18, you still have some time to save up money for gas, I mean hard times. I've got to get a job this summer and will probably have about half of my money set aside for gas, about 45% set aside for savings, and the rest for miscellaneous until I get enough up to do anything with.

We drive at 16 dumbass, not 18...how does that give us time to save money for gas? The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a group of thirteen countries made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador (which rejoined OPEC in November 2007), Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OPEC

In Australia (NSW) it used to be that at 16 you get your Learner permit then after 3 months you get your full license. Now (In VIC) you must be 16 to get your learner and have 120 hours done before going for your Probationary license at 18. Last year Australia held APEC (The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) and George Bush confused it with OPEC. Then he confused Australian troops with Austrian. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiOUS0h6rrk

rhece, at certain areas in America, we can drive with a learner's at 15. At least that's how it is in my state. Now the driving age varies from state-to-state.
But I was making a joke as to how bad gas prices might get in the future that you'd have to save up money for college and gas. But George Bush's public speaking capabilities are not very high. How much you wanna bet he's mentioned the Decepticons (from Transformers) in the same breath as "evil-doers".
