Yeah that's true. The Ramones made their sound and image because that's basically all they could afford. Green Day on the other hand seems to have an addiction to "guy"liner.
Blitzkrieg Bop = one of the most recognizable punk rock songs ever.
Also, they toured virtually non-stop for 22 years, without ever achieving much commerical success. If that ain't a band that loves to play, what is.
PS: Many people claim The Ramones as the first punk rock band. Can't go wrong with that.
I think (well, the good version of) punk rock is a good way to listen to bands who don't give a shit what others think of them, they just want to play.

I love the Ramones. Joey has a sick voice! I like their approach to music and how they did it. Great band.

Yep, they really helped take rock music in the 70s and 80s (and even 90s, they were still around for the 90s) back to a more basic sound.
We need more bands like the Ramones. Good clean punk.

Nice, good ol' rockabilly punk.
Too bad more bands that are that good don't exist.
(It's becoming more apparent that that song from Jackyl is me, Redneck Punk)

Sometimes we all need to just hear something that has no meaning whatsoever to get us to thinking.

It seems like every year that there is a new label for a new band to fall into. What The Ramones did was basically defy the logic of the music industry by not falling into any label that was established at that time, they went their own way. And I was joking about the "no meaning to get us thinking" part. But I kinda wish that I lived back in the 70s where all the labels that existed were Punk, Metal, Rock & Roll and Pop in rock music. Now we have useless labels such as grunge, thrash, nu-metal, aggressive rock, and others.
