People who download music and films illegally face being cut off from the web under plans being considered by ministers.
Internet service providers (ISPs) could be legally obliged to take action against those who access pirate material.
Users suspected of breaking the rules would be subject to a "three strikes and you're out" policy, receiving an e-mailed warning first, followed by a suspension, and then finally termination of their internet contract.
The Government is expected to confirm that it intends to legislate on the issue when it publishes a green paper on the future of the creative industries next week.
Broadband firms who fail to enforce the rules could reportedly be prosecuted, and details of suspected customers made available to the courts.
A draft of the green paper, obtained by The Times newspaper, states: "We will move to legislate to require internet service providers to take action on illegal filesharing."
Some six million people are estimated to download files illegally every year in the UK, costing music and film companies billions in lost revenue.
Major ISPs such as BT, Virgin and Tiscali have been in talks with the entertainment industry over introducing a voluntary scheme for policing pirate activity, but no agreement has been reached.

They're always trying to do something...
Hmm...I've heard of another form of the internet, one that was around before I was born (the 80s) where people had to manually log-in to a user group. From what I gather, it's similar to how IRC functions now.
I just hope that these type of forums don't have to eventually go that route.
This is as bad as saying MySpace is the reason why kids get bullied or sexually assaulted.
File sharing has been going on for years before modern broadband, and sites like MySpace are only about five years old. Demonoid was already taken down by the Canadians (I ain't saying ALL Canadians). What next?

vote em out. simple as that meet the new boss, same as the old boss, all politicians adopt the same views given time, just change the label is all, liberal, conservative whatever, they're all the same, and if you seriously think you live in a democracy bud, id think again, its only a democracy cos your government tells you so. In Oz, take a look at the Aboriginal struggle over the years,in the US ,take a look at Bush and his administration, in the UK look at Blair and his blatant disregard for the public opinion on Iraq,as for Brown, hes just Blair with a new face, yeah the world is TRULY a democratic place NOT

Yeah.
And not to mention here in America, we have the primary caucusses (hopefully that's spelt right), but most of the candidates drop out by the big states dates, and because of that, people wind up doing the "lesser of two evils" vote.
Right now, it's guaranteed that we will have John McCain vs Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.
Just about three months ago it was either John McCain/Mike Huckabee/Mitt Romney vs Barack Obama/Hillary Clinton/John Edwards. That's a bit of a shocker, eh?

Ahh...that was cold....
But yeah, I'm probably going to vote for McCain, because from what I hear, he's "conservative" but not "a conservative". That basically means, he's mostly what people would consider conservative, but not restricted to "conservatism".
He's also for better gun control and for helping the immigrants gain a path toward citizenship. Hello dumbass Americans, remember that the US was founded by immigrants? Even some from Mexico (Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona, the entire southwest)?
